All events are social. After completing their portion of the event, participants and volunteers gather at the Talk Story Aid Station to discuss and to tell tall stories concerning their athletic experiences..

Feb. 13: The Prologue, a short 10 mile ride, has been kicking off HCC’s race/ride season for over 10 years. The start time is 7 a.m. at Kaiminani Dr. and Hwy 19. Registration is from 6:20 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. on Pukiawe St. off of Kaiminani Dr. very close to Hwy 19.

March 5: The Kua Bay course is 12.2 miles, starting on Hwy 19 at Waikoloa Beach Road and ending at the turn off to Kua Bay. The start time is 7 a.m. Registration is from 6:20 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. at Bike Works Beach and Sports in the Queen’s Market Place.

Hawaii Cycling Club 2016-17 members and 2016 annual members get first crack at the limited number of slots. It’s a no-one-gets-dropped event that’s designed to bring out riders of all abilities, and yet it’s a hill-climbing competition at the same time. All participants are required to have an annual USA Cycling or a One Day USA Cycling Membership.

April 5: The third annual Hawaii Century is a benefit for Kona Hospice and is co-sponsored by Metzler Contracting and the Hawaii Cycling Club. The Hawaii Century is a ride, not a race. Starting and ending at Spencer there are three routes — 110 miles, 64 miles and 30 miles — the Century is an opportunity for novice and intermediate athletes as well as experienced cyclists to ride a different route or a longer distance.

Preregistration and additional information is at active.com. Event name is Hawaii Century with the location listed as Kawaihae. The Century entry fee is $50.

HCC has three levels of membership: the 2016-17 Membership, including the 20th anniversary jersey is $80 for two years. The 2016 One Year Membership is $20. Per event Membership to cover insurance is $10.
